Dr. Carolyn Yucha

Carolyn Yucha, RN, PhD, FAAN, joined HPU in October 2022. When the Department of Nursing became a School of Nursing in January 2022, Dr. Yucha was appointed as Interim Dean. 

Dr. Yucha earned her BSN from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany, her MSN from SUNY Buffalo, and her PhD in Physiology from SUNY Upstate Medical Center. She worked as faculty at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and as Associate Dean for Research at the University of Florida. She served as Dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for 14 years. As a faculty member, she won numerous teaching awards and provided close to 100 presentations at professional conferences.

Dr. Yucha has also engaged in research, focusing her PhD work on bicarbonate reabsorption in the nephron, to treatment of IV infiltrations, to non-pharmacological treatment of hypertension. She received funding for her own research and to establish an Exploratory Center for Nursing Research at the University of Florida from the National Institutes of Health. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and has served as the Editor of Biological Research for Nursing for the past 20 years.
